The Ceremony Speech by Principal Shen Liu

Our esteemed guests, parents, teachers, students, our alumni, ex-staff,  past Principals, ladies and gentlemen:

15 years, a 15-years dream, a 15-years journey. Now we, all of us stand in front of our own building, a building that we can call home to celebrate. What a glorious day that we can remember for the years to come. I am indeed very honored by your presence.

May I once again warmly welcome you to our official opening of the school year 2012-2013 at St. Louis Modern Chinese School , witness and celebrate a dream come true.

St. Louis Modern Chinese School has been teaching Chinese language for fifteen years.  In 1997, the school started with 40 students.  Now we have over 400 students. This semester, we have 52 Chinese language classes including teaching Chinese for non-Chinese families.  We have over 70 elective classes teaching Math, music, dance, arts, craft, martial arts, pingpong and others; we will host and involve in major culture events in St. Louis area to promote Chinese traditional culture.

The school is never about an individual, or a small team of school leaders, but a community of staff, parents, partners and students learning together, working together and growing together.  As we look back at the School has achieved over the last 15 years, its gives us a renewed courage to move forward to fulfill our mission of providing Chinese language education for students of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, to promote Chinese Culture and to instill positive virtues and values to the students, so they will excel academically, morally and socially.

We will continue enhancing the quality of education, using Chinese Language as a communication tool to help our student to succeed in the future,   to understand their heritage, and hold pride in their roots and identity, so that they will grow in confidence.

In closing, let me extend my deepest appreciation to you for being with us to celebrate this historic milestone.  Let’s continue to persevere in our goal to share and enjoy the Chinese culture.
